Body posture check

Posture check from your phone, measured in degrees

A posture check is a measured look at how your body lines up when you stand still. Libria does it with your phone camera: three short captures from the front, side and back, and you get your head, shoulder, pelvis, trunk and knee alignment in degrees, compared with common screening bands, in a report you can keep or show your physiotherapist. It costs ₹99 and takes about two minutes.

Most people judge their posture in a mirror or from a photo a friend took, which tells you how you look but not by how much. A measured check replaces "I think I slouch" with "my head sits 11% of my leg length ahead of my shoulders and my right shoulder is 4.8 degrees lower than my left". Those are numbers you can track, and numbers a physiotherapist can work with.

Libria uses the same pose-tracking approach used in movement labs, run in your phone browser. It finds your joints in each picture, draws the lines between them, and reads the angles off those lines. The phone’s own tilt is checked at every capture so a leaning camera cannot be mistaken for a leaning body.

What a Libria posture check measures

  • Head tilt and head carriage

How level your head sits, and how far forward it is carried over your shoulders (the "forward head" or "text neck" pattern), as a share of your own leg length.

  • Shoulder level

The angle of the line joining your shoulders, and which side sits lower.

  • Pelvic tilt

The angle of the line joining your hips in the frontal view.

  • Trunk lean

Sideways lean from the front or back view, and forward lean from the side view.

  • Plumb line

Whether your ear, shoulder and hip stack over each other from the side, in degrees from vertical.

  • Weight shift

Whether your hips sit centred over your ankles or drift to one side.

  • Knee alignment and symmetry

Inward or outward drift of each knee in standing (valgus or varus), and how different the two sides are.

  • Stance width and postural sway

How wide you stand, and, if you choose the optional 15-second hold, how much you sway while trying to stand still.

  • Alignment index

One number out of 100 that summarises how level and centred you stood. It is a product summary, not a health score.

When a posture check is worth doing

  • You see rounded shoulders or a forward head in photographs of yourself.
  • One shoulder or one hip looks higher than the other.
  • You get neck, upper back or lower back ache after long desk or phone hours.
  • A physiotherapist, trainer or yoga teacher has told you that you slouch or lean.
  • You are starting a posture or strengthening programme and want a baseline to compare against later.
  • You are recovering from an injury and want to see whether you are favouring one side.

How a Libria scan works

  1. STEP 01

Open the scan on your phone

No app to install. Sign in, choose the scan type, and prop your phone where it can see all of you.

  2. STEP 02

    Follow the on-screen guide

Three 10-second captures for posture, a short straight walk for gait, or one steady movement for range of motion.

  3. STEP 03

    Read your measured report

Every angle in degrees against a screening band, with plain-English explanations, as a PDF you can keep or send to your physiotherapist.

What a camera scan cannot tell you

  • It is a screening tool, not a diagnosis. It cannot see bone, discs, joints, muscle or the cause of pain.
  • It cannot confirm or rule out scoliosis. A spinal curve needs a clinical examination and usually an X-ray.
  • It measures how you stood for the few seconds the pictures were taken. Posture changes with fatigue, footwear, mood and time of day, so one scan is a snapshot, not a trend.
  • The screening bands it compares against were measured on adults. They are not age-specific diagnostic ranges.

Questions people ask

How accurate is a phone posture check?

Libria reads angles from landmarks a pose model finds in each picture. Landmark tracking on a well-lit, full-body image is typically within a few degrees, and the report prints a tracking-quality figure for each scan so you can see how clearly it saw you. It is accurate enough to track a change over weeks; it is not a substitute for a clinician measuring you in person.

Can a posture check detect scoliosis?

No. A camera can show that your shoulders or hips are not level, which is one reason a clinician might look further, but scoliosis is a curve of the spine itself and is confirmed by clinical examination and X-ray. Treat an uneven shoulder line as a reason to ask a question, not as a verdict.

How often should I check my posture?

Every four to six weeks is enough to see change if you are working on it. Each report is kept in your account, and a repeat scan is compared with the previous one using a change floor, so you are told whether a difference is bigger than the normal wobble between two scans.

What does it cost?

A Basic report is ₹99 and a Detailed report with a full written interpretation is ₹249. Packs bring the price down to ₹200 or ₹180 per report. There is no subscription.

Are my photographs stored?

Your photographs are processed on your own phone and are never stored on our servers. Only the measurements, the written report and your account details are kept.

Can I share the results with my physiotherapist?

Yes. Every scan produces a PDF report with the measurements, the reference bands and, on the Detailed tier, an annotated picture and written interpretation. You can download it or email it from the app.
